Sergeant Major Emily L. Green was born in Peoria, Illinois on November 9, 1979. She graduated from Unity High School in May of 1997. She graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Additionally, she graduated from Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas as a Health Care Specialist (68W).
SGM Green's unit assignments have included 123rd Main Support Battalion, Dexheim, Germany as Treatment Platoon medic and Platoon Sergeant; Warrior Transition Unit, West Point, New York as a WTU Squad Leader; 2nd Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado as a Health Care Sergeant and Medical Platoon Sergeant; 232nd Medical Battalion, 32d Medical Brigade, Fort Sam Houston, Texas as an AIT Platoon Sergeant and Battalion Victim Advocate; and Combined Army Training Center (CATC), 7th Army Training Command, Grafenwoher, Germany as the Medical Simulation Training Center's Senior Instructor/Writer and CATC NCOIC; USAMEDDAC-Fort Knox, Ireland Army Health Clinic PTM&S Operations Chief, and Operations Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. She served her first combat tour in Iraq in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and her second tour to Afghanistan in 2011-2012 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
SGM Green's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (2), NATO Medal, Bronze Schutzenschur (German Marksmanship Badge), and Driver's Badge. She is the recipient of the 2021 USO Military Medical Hero of the Year, Order of Military Medical Merit, and Kentucky Colonel's Association.
SGM Green's military education includes being a graduate of Sergeants Major Academy Class 73, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Basic Leaders Course (Commandant's List), Army Basic Instructor's Course, Small Group Instructor Trainers Course, Modern Army Combatives Program Level One, Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention Victim Advocate Course, Master Resiliency Trainer Course-Level One, Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeant Course, Military Transition Team Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, and Emergency Medical Technician Course. Her civilian education includes an Associate Degree from Parkland College, Baccalaureate Degree in Health Care Administration as Summa Cum Laude from Purdue Global University, and Master's Degree in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Community Engagement from University of Texas-El Paso.
